You’re allowed to take up space
Although this comic is based on something a friend said in a Discord a while back, I can certainly identify with the concern.
I often have to remind myself that people do actually want to hear from me, and not every single thing I say has to be gold.
I have a handful of mutuals who are really prolific tweeters and posters, and understandably, most of it is banal. But even though they’re not constantly putting out High Quality Content™, these posts help me to get to know them more. They become more of a complete person to me, which is especially important when you only know someone online.
Given the ephemeral nature of most of our social media these days, I’m not sure it’s actually possible to post too much. Depending on where you’re posting, you might not even make it past the algorithm1. But it’s worth considering that if you ever do start to annoy people with too many posts, they’ll probably just gloss over it and move on to the next item in their feed.
And if that’s the worst thing that happens, why not get out there and share more?
Cheerful Bonus Aya
We can’t leave our girl like that, so here’s some bonus art of a more upbeat Aya, presumably from her college days!
Ah, that’s better.
See you Thursday for another page of Face to Face!
Transcript
Panel 1: Aya is sitting at her laptop and rests her chin on her hand, looking thoughtful. She asks aloud, "Hmm... Am I posting too much and annoying people in the chat?"
Panel 2: Aya immediately shifts to smiling with exaggerated cheerfulness, holding her arm out. She responds to herself, saying, "...Of course not! Can't be annoying if nobody ever thinks about you!"
Panel 3: Aya freezes, her expression turning blank and contemplative as she stares ahead, processing what she just said.
Panel 4: Aya covers her face with both hands in devastation as her laptop remains open in front of her.
