Tracy Winters has come a long way. Here’s what she looked like when she first debuted way back in 2004:
Yikes! I sure liked those spiky bangs for everybody back then.
She’s gone through a lot of permutations since then, landing on this look by the time the original comic finished its run in 2011:
Much improved! But still not quite where I wanted her to be. (And I really wasn’t happy with how I was shading hair at the time.)
Fast forward to 2020, and I’d spent a lot of time discovering new tools and improving my art. Here are some intermediate Tracys I was testing out.
I still love those expressions. Very true to the character!
Ultimately, what I landed on for a character design for the Prequel was this suspiciously sweet-looking version:
I’d say that’s an improvement, wouldn’t you?
